Oversized pieces overwhelm calm rooms; undersized ones feel tentative. We draw to-scale footprints for Genevan floor plans where elevator width and door swing often dictate what can arrive.

Measuring before ordering

We tape elevator cabin diagonals, stair landings, and window seat depths before any purchase. Geneva service lifts in 1930s blocks frequently cap sofa length at 210 cm.

Scale drawings show walking paths of 75 cm minimum and chair pull-back zones behind kneeling cushions.

Neighbourhood floor plans

Eaux-Vives

Long narrow salons parallel to the Rhône suit low benches along the window wall rather than central sectionals. We keep sight lines open toward the water.

Plainpalais

Small bedrooms converted to calm rooms need fold-flat daybeds or armless chairs under 70 cm depth. Built-in wardrobe doors must still slide past new seating.

Champel

Wider 1960s layouts allow paired chairs with a shared side table. We still avoid blocking radiator access required for Swiss heating inspections.

Material weight and floor load

Solid oak benches look grounded but stress old joists when combined with stacked book storage. We specify hollow-frame or plywood carcasses where structural doubt exists.

Felt pads protect herringbone parquet common in renovated Rive apartments.
